Senior Examiner

Responsibilities:
Perform reviews of commercial, construction, business, consumer and residential loans to identify problems that may result in loss to Astoria Federal. Analyze loan concentrations by borrower, industry, or product type to mitigate the potential for loss and assure compliance with the Company’s policy. Support the Manager in establishing valuation allowances that are both adequate and in compliance with Astoria Federal’s policy. Support the Manager’s monthly review of all departmental reports and schedules. Collaborate with other departments to develop reports needed by the Internal Loan Review Department and validate the accuracy of same. Prepare and verify all classified asset schedules required by the Financial Reporting Department for SEC reporting. Prepare and validate “Thrift Financial Report” schedules for allowance for loan and lease losses (ALL) and delinquent loans which are submitted to the Office of Thrift Supervision, quarterly, by the Financial Reporting Department. Perform additional accountabilities as required.

Qualifications:
- 3 – 4 years in analyzing and/or underwriting residential, consumer, C&I, and construction loans
- 2 years commercial loan review experience required
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred
- Knowledge of Federal regulations as they relate to lending
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient computer skills
